"Currently, the emergency repair work on Lixinsha Bridge has progressed to the final stages, including the renovation of the bridge deck system and the installation of guardrails. The bridge will soon be reopened," a staff member from the Nansha District Transportation Bureau said in an interview on May 28.
At the site, it can be observed that the beam erection of the Lixinsha Bridge has been completed. Workers are engaged in reinforcement binding and concrete pouring for the deck system, while others are painting the guardrails. Large engineering vessels remain anchored on the river, continuing with their operations.
A representative from the China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau in charge of the Lixinsha Bridge emergency repair project said, "We are also conducting painting and beautification work on the Bridge's guardrails, lampposts, and other facilities. Next, we will pour the crash barriers and pave the deck. At present, the emergency repair work of the Lixinsha Bridge has entered the final stages of deck system renovation and guardrail installation, and the Bridge will be reopened to traffic soon."
A staff member of the Nansha District Transportation Bureau added, "To enhance the bridge's collision resistance, we follow the guidance of the provincial and municipal transportation departments to add pile foundations and expand the pile caps of the main piers in the navigation span based on the current bridge conditions, waterway, and on-site construction organization. This is to improve the structural strength and enhance the bridge's collision resistance capabilities."
